7 октября 2015 года стартовал BFI London Film Festival 2015 вечерним показом фильма "Суфражистка" (Suffragette), где одну из главных ролей сыграла жена Джеймса МакЭвоя Энн-Мари Дафф. Фильм посвящен движению суфражисток (борьба за предоставление женщинам избирательных прав), зародившемуся в Великобритании в конце 19 века. Режиссер фильма Сара Гаврон в своем интервью рассказала, что когда они углубились в изучение исторического материала, то "Чем больше мы исследовали, тем больше мы чувствовали себя вынужденными рассказать эту историю. Полицейские архивы представили материалы и протоколы о жестокости тех времен, начиная с голодовки и принудительного кормления и заканчивая полицейским произволом. После такого стало почти невозможно игнорировать параллели между борьбой этих женщин и бедственным положением с правами женщин на Ближнем Востоке сегодня". Что же, если заговорили о сегодняшнем дне, то стоит перейти к параллелям поведения суфражисток и нынешних феминисток, которые чуть не сорвали эту самую премьеру. Посмотрите трейлер фильма и вы поймете, где была настоящая борьба, а где только сотрясание воздуха. Девушки устроили настоящее шоу с криками протеста, бегом наперегонки под прицелом телекамер и даже пиротехникой. В итоге они легли на красную ковровую дорожку и стали выкрикивать лозунги. Ну вот теперь как-то так борются за свои права и против гендерного неравенства в Великобритании. Джеймс МакЭвой пришел поддержать свою жену к кинотетру Odeon, что на Лестер-сквер, как раз накануне ее Дня рождения. 08 октября Энн-Мари Дафф празднует свое 45-летие, так что для их семьи - это двойной праздник. The making of Suffragette: ‘These women are warriors’
Ahead of its grand opening of the 59th BFI London Film Festival, we spoke to director Sarah Gavron, screenwriter Abi Morgan and producers Faye Ward and Alison Owen about their ambitious new film about the epic struggles of the suffragettes.
Cast a glance at Sarah Gavron’s credits and one thing becomes instantly clear: she relishes a challenge.
Unafraid to tackle sensitive subject matter ranging from the BAFTA-winning BBC drama This Little Life (2003), which centres on a couple dealing with the premature birth of their son, to an adaptation of Monica Ali’s best-selling book Brick Lane (2007), focused on a Bangladeshi woman’s struggle in a loveless marriage in a place far from home, the British director is nothing if not intrepid.
But it’s Gavron’s latest turn behind the lens that reveals her biggest challenge and perhaps most important accomplishment to date. Suffragette, starring Carey Mulligan, Helena Bonham Carter, Anne-Marie Duff and Meryl Streep, is a careful portrayal of the foot soldiers of the early feminist movement in London 1912 and how they embarked on a campaign of militancy in order to fight against gender inequality.
The subject matter alone is one that begs to be handled with care, but add this to enormous set pieces, riot scenes with 300 extras, a load of visual effects, stunts, accidents, horses, scenes in the Houses of Parliament, all for a budget of £10m, and the term ‘ambitious’ takes on a whole new meaning.

It's a historical film paying tribute to the power of women, in which she is one of the stars. And Suffragette star Anne-Marie Duff certainly seemed to have made an impact on actor James McAvoy on Wednesday night, since he appeared utterly spell-bound by her. The 36-year-old made gooey-eyes at his wife-of-nine-years as they put in a sweet dual appearance at the premiere of her new, hotly-anticipated film in London's Leicester Square.
The From Darkness star, 44, leaned a supportive arm on his shoulder as they cosied up for a few pictures, turning occasionally to shoot adoring glances at one another. Though they've been married for nearly 10 years, the cute pair still appeared utterly besotted during their rare red carpet appearance. He was sharp in a black suit and skinny tie, while she stole the show, cutting a glamorous image in a strapless colour block panel dress.
