There's nothing like a happy set to make the working day go faster, and that seemed to be the case for Colin Farrell and Rachel Weisz as they filmed scenes for The Lobster. The actors were all smiles in between scenes on the Dublin-based production, with Colin looking a far cry from his heartthrob self.
The 37-year-old, displayed a prominent paunch, a moustache and a pair of glasses while Rachel looked like an office worker in her skirt suit and shirt. The actor must have been wearing a fake stomach, as just a few weeks earlier he looked his usual trim self while attending an event.
He did however have an impressive moustache – which he has grown for the role in Oscar- nominated Yorgos Lanthimos’ first English movie. Colin and Rachel are just two of the big names to star in the film - it also features John C. Reilly, Ashley Jensen, Michael Smiley, Jessica Barden, Ben Whishaw, Léa Seydoux and Olivia Colman.
The film, which was co-written by Lanthimos and Efthimis Filippou, is a sci-fi love story in which single people are arrested and transferred to a hotel. Once they are there they are forced to find a matching mate in 45 days or they will be transformed into an animal and released into the woods. It is due to shoot over the next seven weeks on location in Ireland, which is of course Colin’s country of birth.
