Каннский кинофестиваль, если помните, обязательно сопровождается не только премьерами на красных дорожках, но и деловыми встречами и покупками прав на фильмы, которые будут (или не будут, в зависимости от желания местных прокатчиков) радовать вас в кино в ближайшем будущем. Нисколько не сомневаемся в вашей (уже) осведомленности о новых ролях бритишей, о которых сейчас делаем попытку вам рассказать. Но, может быть, не мы одни до сих пор распутываем клубок мыслей и новостей, пришедших с Лазурного Берега в прошлом месяце, и легкая систематизация и напоминание лишними в этом деле не будут. Посему в этом обзоре узнаем, кто из британских актеров претендует на роль греческого марафонца, кто отправится на войну в прошлом, а кто - в населенном дронами будущем; кто пойдет грабить банк, а кто отправился на "поиски огня"; и, наконец, кому из них предстоит подружиться с приговоренным к смертной казни преступником. Говорить будем о Томе Хиддлстоне, Бенедикте Камбербэтче, Эдди Рэдмейне, Томе Харди, Колине Ферте и Джерарде Батлере >>> BRITISHBOYS.RU
Начнем с того, кто в промежутке между проектами Дель Торо и Уитли, является редким гостем светской хроники. Инсайдерский ресурс The Tracking Board утверждает, что Том Хиддлстон сыграет главную роль в спортивной драме "Кириакидес" (KYRIAKIDES). Известно, что студия Disney начала разработку этого фильма о греческом марафонце еще три года назад, и до сих пор "в деле". Речь в фильме идет о Стелиосе Кирикаидесе, который не только пережил фашистскую акупацию в Афинах, но и принял участие в Бостонском марафоне с целью заработать денег на освобождение Греции. Байопик основан на реальных событиях, но будет сосредоточен на конкретном промежутке жизни Кириакидеса. Тем не менее, участие Хиддлстона в проекте пока остается на уровне слухов.
Раз уж заговорили о слухах, то почему бы не потешить себя скромными надеждами на воссоединение на экране Тома Хиддлстона и Бенедикта Камбербэтча? The Sunday Times (не Бог весть какой источник, но все же...) возьми да и напиши следующее: "Бенедикт Камбербэтч - наиболее вероятный кандидат на главную роль в новой киноверсии классической пьесы "Конец поездки" (Journey’s End) о Первой мировой войне". Если верить написанному в издании, то идея экранизировать пьесу исходила от сына королевы Елизаветы, британского принца Эндрю. Предложение снять фильм сопряжено с желанием отдать дело в руки британской студии Fluidity Films, которая уже очень давно разрабатывает этот проект, но никак не может решить проблемы с приобретением прав на экранизацию. Принадлежат последние студии Warner Bros. И пока у Fluidity Films нет прав на экранизацию, официального запроса к актерам не направлялось.
Тем не менее, как пишет, Sunday Times, рассмотрение кандидатур Камбербэтча и Хиддлстона на главные роли в фильме подтвердил продюсер Fluidity Films Ги де Боже. Еще одно немаловажное для нас имя, которое рассматривается в контексте экранизации "Конца поездки" - Эдди Рэдмейн. Сообщается также, что Камбэрбэтча в фильме продюсеры хотели бы увидеть в роли капитана Стэнхоупа - главного среди оказавшихся в одном окопе солдат. Ну а теперь от слухов - к подтвержденной информации. Орландо Блум, которого в последнее время чуть ли не в одной только омолодившейся роли Леголаса и видим, готов к новым свершениям в кино. Доказал это он на примере инди-фильма "В поисках огня" (Digging for Fire). Славящийся своими скоростными темпами работы ветеран независимого кино Джо Свонберг снял (именно так, в прошедшем, а не будущем времени) в своем новом фильме Орландо, а также Анну Кендрик, Сэма Рокуэлла, Бри Ларсона и других актеров. Сюжет фильма не разглашается, и единственное, что толком известно о фильме - снимался он на 35-миллиметровую пленку.
Не особо много известно и о новом фильме Джерарда Батлера. Актер, который недавно покинул реанимированный проект "На гребне войны", теперь готов на ограбление банка. В переносном смысле, конечно же, и в порядке участия в ленте Кристиана Гьюдгэста. Сей человек с непроизносимой фамилией написал не только сценарий к фильму "Падение Лондона", но и к новой бандитской драме "Логово воров" (Den of Thieves). Снимать, соответственно, будет тоже сам. А Батлера призвал еще и к роли продюсера. По сюжету легендарная банда грабителей банков решает замахнуться на отделение Федеральной резервной системы в Лос-Анджелесе, прямо под носом у представителей шерифа.
Не сдает актерские позиции и совершенно не собирается сбавлять темпов (на наше счастье) еще один актер-продюсер: Колин Ферт. Режиссер фильмов "Игра Эндера" и "Люди Икс: Начало. Росомаха" Гэвин Худ взялся за давно разрабатываемый военный проект о мире недалекого будущего под названием "Небесное око" (Eye In The Sky). Действие в фильме разворачивается в мире удаленных войн, где главные солдаты и орудия - дроны-беспилотники. Главный герой - полковник британской разведки Мэдден (Ферт) - удаленно руководит операцией по захвату и устранению скрывающихся в Найроби террористов. Естественно, операция будет сопряжена с решением моральных проблем. Съемки фильма уже буквально на носу и будут проходить в Южной Африке, начиная со второй декады ближайшего августа. Вместе с Фертом в фильме сыграют Аарон Пол и Хелен Миррен.
Напоследок компанию матерым британцам в нашем обзоре составит Том Харди. Актер активно снимается и не менее активно готовится к новым проектам в своей карьере. И привело это его к сотрудничеству к "оскароносной" Кэтрин Бигелоу. IndieWire несколько недель назад сообщили, что Харди утвержден на главную роль в фильме «Настоящий американец» (The True American) — экранизации публицистической прозы журналиста "New York Times" А.Гиридхарадаса. Речь в драме пойдет о событиях после 11 сентября, когда террорист-самоучка Марк Стромен убил в Техасе двух эмигрантов. При этом третий из них - Райсуддин Буйян, ветеран ВВС Бангладеш в прошлом и обычный продавец в настоящем - выжил после выстрела в голову. После ранения он опознал Стромена, но с этого момента между жертвой и убийцей начали устанавливаться странные дружеские отношения.
Все это (и немного больше) ждет тех, кто неравнодушен к кино, в ближайшем будущем. Изучайте, предвкушайте, а мы оставляем вас (и себя) с надеждой на то, что некоторые слухи все-таки оправдаются... ;)
The Tracking Board: Recent reports indicate that Tom Hiddleston will star in the sports drama KYRIAKIDES, which follows the true story of the Greek marathoner Stelios Kyriakides and his survival through the Nazi occupation of Athens. Disney is teaming up with Mayhem and 1821 to produce the film, and scribe Bill Wheeler is working on the current version of the script. The story follows the famous marathoner who not only survived the Nazi occupation, but went on to win the Boston Marathon to raise money for Greece’s relief. It does not appear to chronicle his entire life, and I think that’s a wise choice by filmmakers, as sprawling biopics are often watered down and unfocused. Think of good ones like "Capote,” or "The Queen,” that focus on specific instances in a person’s life that help define them. (...) Paris Latsis, Mark Ciardi, Gordon Gray, and Terry Dougas are producing, along with Brad Butler executive producing for Mayhem and Tonia Davis overseeing for Disney. No word yet on when production will start, but producers are actively meeting with directors to helm the project.
The Sunday Times: BENEDICT CUMBERBATCH is tipped to star in a new film version of Journey’s End, the classic play about the First World War, after Prince Andrew intervened to persuade a Hollywood studio to lift its veto on the project. The new version of RC Sherriff’s play, first performed in 1928 with Laurence Olivier in the starring role, was given approval after Andrew wrote to the head of Warner Bros in Britain, explaining its significance to the nation. Instead of portraying public school officers as the inept dolts parodied in the BBC comedy series, Blackadder Goes Forth, the film’s makers say it will more faithfully reflect the truth about the war. The story, set entirely in a dugout on the western front, shows a group of public school officers struggling with the pressures of trench warfare in 1918, the final year of the conflict. They are ordered by their colonel to launch a suicidal daylight raid, and, as feared, the Germans are ready for them and kill the avuncular school master who has held the company together. (...) Cumberbatch, 37, best known for playing Sherlock Holmes, went to Harrow, while another name linked to the project is Eddie Redmayne, 32 — who starred in a television dramatisation of Birdsong, the Sebastian Faulks novel set in the First World War. He was at Eton in the same year as Prince William, the Duke of Cambridge. Other actors set to be approached by the production company, Fluidity Films, include Tom Hiddleston, 33 — who played Loki in the Thor films, and appeared in Steven Spielberg’s War Horse — and Dominic West, 44, a star of The Wire. Both are Old Etonians. Some of the cast will be relative unknowns because some of the officers in the play are barely out of their teens. (...) The film will be directed by David Grindley, who won a Tony award for a Broadway production of the play. Guy de Beaujeu, the producer, previously made a film version of Michael Morpurgo’s First World War novel, Private Peaceful. The Duke of York was asked to intervene by Seldon after it emerged that a convoluted series of deals stretching back to 1929 meant the film could not be made. Worldwide film rights passed from MGM to Turner Entertainment and Time Warner before ending up with Warner Bros. According to the producers and the Sherriff estate, even though Warner Bros had no intention of filming Journey’s End, the studio appeared to have a policy of never giving up the rights it held for any project, whatever the cultural significance. A palace spokesman said Andrew met Josh Berger, head of Warner Brothers UK, at a Windsor Castle reception and wrote to the studio chief asking him to reconsider. The prince "likes to help where he can”, the spokesman said.
The Wrap: Veteran indie filmmaker Joe Swanberg has wrapped production on his latest movie "Digging for Fire,” which has added Anna Kendrick, Orlando Bloom, Jenny Slate and Mike Birbiglia to previously announced cast members Jake Johnson, Rosemarie DeWitt, Sam Rockwell and Brie Larson, an individual familiar with the project told TheWrap. Johnson and DeWitt star in the film, while Rockwell, Larson and Bloom have significant supporting roles. Kendrick, Birbiglia and Slate have smaller roles in the film. Swanberg directed from a script he co-wrote with Johnson, and the duo also produced along with Alicia Van Couvering. Plot details are being kept under wraps, but one interesting nugget of information is that Ben Richardson ("Beasts of the Southern Wild”) shot "Digging for Fire” on 35mm.
Variety: Gerard Butler is heading for the bank, starring in Relativity’s heist drama "Den of Thieves.” Christian Gudegast is set to direct from his own script, co-written with Paul Scheuring, in which a legendary bank heist crew decides to rob the Federal Reserve in Los Angeles right under the nose of a rogue sheriff’s deputy. Relativity Intl. is launching sales at Cannes. Mark Canton, Ryan Kavanaugh, Tucker Tooley and Alan Siegel are producing, with Chris Bender, JC Spink and Butler exec producing. Butler and Siegel are producing under their G-Base banner.
Deadline: Entertainment One will produce and distribute contemporary action thriller Eye In The Sky in colin firthassociation with Colin Firth and Ged Doherty’s Raindog Films. Gavin Hood is directing with Firth attached to star in the ensemble. Firth and Doherty will produce with Xavier Marchand who is heading up the eOne’s new global film production arm. The film is expected to kick off in South Africa on August 11. Written by BAFTA winner Guy Hibbert (Five Minutes Of Heaven, Omagh) Eye In The Sky centers on London-based military intelligence officer Colonel Michelle Madden who is remotely commanding a top secret drone operation that aims to capture a group of terrorists in Nairobi. The mission suddenly escalates from a "capture” to a "kill” operation when she realizes the targets are about to embark on a suicide mission, which would result in the deaths of many innocent civilians. Meanwhile, American drone pilot Steve Watts is poised to destroy the safe-house when a nine-year-old-girl enters the kill zone. With unforeseen collateral damage factoring into the equation and with the volatility of the situation increasing, Madden must pass the mission’s authority up the "kill chain” to politicians and lawyers, including the British Foreign secretary. IndieWire: THE TRUE AMERICAN meticulously reconstructs two lives that collided in horrific fashion. In the charged, angry days after 9/11, self-styled “American Terrorist” Mark Stroman murdered two immigrants in Texas, while a third man survived being shot in the head during Stroman’s spree: Raisuddin Bhuiyan, a Bangladesh Air Force veteran, was working at a Dallas-area convenience store as he established himself in America. With Stroman identified and apprehended, the tale begins its tack toward deeper emotional waters. THE TRUE AMERICAN is a richly detailed, affecting account of two men bound, as it turns out, by more than just an act of violence. The deal was brokered by Annapurna’s Paul Hanson and Christopher Corabi with CAA, which represents Rais Uddin Bhuiyan and Anand Giridharadas, as well as Bigelow and Hardy. Anand is represented for publishing by Katherine Flynn at Kneerim Williams and Bloom.
