Бенедикт Камбербэтч получил Национальную Телепремию Великобритании в номинации «Лучший детектив» (National Television Award for Best TV Detective) за роль Шерлока, находясь в Голливуде. 22 января 2014 года ведущий этой премии Кифер Сазерлэнд связался с Лос-Анджелесом по каналу видеосвязи и Камбербэтч был бы не Камбэрбэтчем, если бы не устроил шоу в стиле самого Шерлока! Итак, видео Бенедикта на фоне голливудских холмов, все как положено для торжественности момента: костюмчик от Ника Харта, актер произносит пафосную речь в благодарность всем телезрителям за то, что выбрали его "лучшим детективом" и тут случается непредвиденная вещь, камера отъезжает и англичанин предстает во всей красе - в пиджаке и купальных шортах. Kiefer Sutherland presents inaugural National Television Award for Best TV Detective to Benedict Cumberbatch...who accepts from LA in his swimming shorts

He is famed for playing one of the world's most successful - and iconic - TV detectives in smash-hit drama 24.

But Hollywood movie star Kiefer Sutherland honoured a British equivalent at the National Television Awards on Wednesday.

The 47 year-old bestowed Benedict Cumberbatch with the inaugural Best TV Detective prize, who collected his award via video-link from Los Angeles.

But, while it may have looked like the actor was hard at work, the reality was very different.   

With the camera panning down to show the actor wearing a pair of swimming trunks, he said: 'Hello from LA. I'm over the moon and can't tell you what this means to me. You are the people who have made this the success this is.' 

The light-hearted acceptance speech provoked a number of screams from the audience, as well as considerable laughter for the performer who is renowned for taking his craft seriously.

He then added that he was 'over the moon' at the news of winning the award before thanking his peers and his fans.
