Покинув Туманный Альбион, Эдди Рэдмейн отправился покорять Америку с фильмом "Вселенная Стивена Хокинга" (Theory of Everything). После фестиваля в Торонто выявились несколько претендентов на Оскар, и среди них английский актер Эдди Рэдмейн, сыгравший выдающегося физика-космолога Стивена Хокинга. Сложно воплощать в жизнь исторических личностей, когда они еще здравствуют, но Эдди справился с этой задачей, и Хокинг даже пустил слезу, когда увидел фильм впервые. Теперь актеру надлежит убедить кинокритиков и киноакадемиков, что он достоин Оскара. Началось все с Нью-Йорка, с посольства Великобритании, где Эдди и Фелисити Джонс с продюсером Лизой Брюс и режиссером Энтони МакКартеном представили фильм. А потом уже все по накатанной дорожке случилось: начались спецпоказы в различных закрытых элитных клубах, встречи со зрителями, дважды актеры отметились на студии Variety в Нью-Йорке и в Голливуде, Эдди съездил в Вашингтон, почти 40 минут он и Фелисити давали интервью на студии 92nd Street Y, не обошлось и без BAFTA NY, где опять же на "мягком бреющем" нарисовались Британские авиалинии. The potential Best Actor nominee charmed Academy members at a lunch in honor of "Theory of Everything" this week.
...The "Theory of Everything" star was in his element at Tuesday's posh luncheon for the Focus Features' Oscar hopeful, wining and dining with the Academy and charming members of the press (myself included).
Shortly after sitting down at The Lotos Club in the Upper East Side, a beaming Redmayne launched into conversation, professing his admiration for Indiewire (no joke), telling me that he was "gagging" to see "Interstellar" and "Birdman," and that he loved "99 Homes," which stars his "best friend" Andrew Garfield. After learning that I pursued acting before becoming a journalist, Redmayne recounted the time he flubbed his audition for the role of Bilbo Baggins in "The Hobbit" trilogy by putting on an affected voice and a bad experience as a waiter at the British equivalent of the Daytime Emmy Awards...

Handsome and slightly built with a generous spray of freckles, 32-year-old Redmayne laughed when asked to compare being at TIFF 2014 to his previous experience withHick in 2011. There, he played a far less admirable character: a drug-addicted American who preys on a teen runaway (Chloë Grace Moretz).
“Last time I came (to Toronto) was with a film that didn’t have distribution, a tiny little indie film, whereas (The Theory of Everything) already came with distribution. It was entirely a different beast when I was playing a meth-addict pedophile,” he said. “And this one I was playing Sir Stephen Hawking. Definitely a difference.”...
...“I think Eddie is like many British men: not good at emoting or as a moaner,” said director Marsh, observing Redmayne never complained. “But it did have a toll, no question; you could see it when we were filming. There was a release any time we would shoot long takes with him. There was a release of ‘ugh,’ we’d say ‘cut,’ you’d just see it all kind of leak out of him … I feel terribly guilty.”...
