"Американец" Том Хиддлстон в первом трейлере баопика "Я видел свет" (I Saw The Light)

Байопик об американской легенде кантри-музыки Хэнке Уильямсе под названием "Я видел свет" (I Saw The Light) в этом году был относительно сносно представлен в фестивальном сезоне: по крайней мере, кинофестиваль в Торонто в сентябре позволил пролить немного света на новую роль Тома Хиддлстона. Розданные в то время интервью, а также первый отрывок из биографической киноленты создали ощущение, что мы уже познакомились с фильмом режиссера Марка Абарахам как следует. Однако полноценный трейлер к фильму "Я видел свет" увидел свет только сейчас. Премьеру трейлера фильма о непростом характере и отнюдь не райской жизни суперзвезды кантри доверили порталу о кино Entertainment Weekly. Если бы звезды сложились так, как это изначально планировала студия Sony Pictures Classic, то премьера фильма в кинотеатрах уже состоялась. Однако в октябре было принято решение перенести релиз с 28 ноября 2015г. на 26 марта 2016г. Основной аргумент студии - Том Хиддлстон не смог бы принять активное участие в промо фильма из-за съемок в блокбастере  "Кинг Конг: Остров Черепа" (Kong: Skull Island). Правда некоторые кинокритики придерживаются другого мнения, и видят  за этим ответную реакцию на неоднозначную оценку фильма после первых показов. EW: “Everybody has a little darkness in ’em,” says Tom Hiddleston in the first trailer for the Hank Williams biopic I Saw the Light. “I’m talking about things like anger, sorrow, shame. I show it to them, and they hear it, and they don’t have to take it home.”

Written and directed by Marc Abraham and named for a 1948 Williams tune, I Saw the Light traces the singer-songwriter’s rapid rise to fame and his turbulent personal life, which had its own share of darkness in it.

Though he became one of country music’s first superstars, Williams also struggled with substance abuse, a spinal condition, and a complicated relationship with his wife, Audrey Mae (played by Elizabeth Olsen), before dying tragically young. As Williams says at one point in the trailer, which debuts exclusively via EW and People today, “Boy, I’m a professional at making a mess out of things.”

If Hiddleston seems a surprising choice to play Williams — he is, after all, a British actor best known for playing a magical Marvel supervillain — he studied for months to sing and play all of Williams’ music in the film himself. Earlier this year, Abraham talked to EW about how Hiddleston got into character, working with Grammy winner Rodney Crowell to hone his skills. “Every note, every line, everything is Tom,” Abraham told EW earlier this year. “He’s crazy talented. If you didn’t like him, you’d be jealous of him.”

The Wrap: Sony Pictures Classics has bumped the Hank Williams biopic “I Saw the Light,” starring Tom Hiddleston and Elizabeth Olsen to March 25, 2016, an individual with knowledge of the project told TheWrap.

Previously, it had been slated for release on Nov. 28 of this year. The film premiered at Toronto International Film Festival in September, where it got a muted reception from critics.

A combination of factors went into the decision, with the studio noting a competitive Oscar season and Hiddleston’s unavailability to promote the film while shooting “Kong: Skull Island.” The film’s lukewarm reception at Toronto International Film Festival can’t have helped, either. (...)
